GE Fanuc IC697CMM711Q Communications Coprocessor Module

The IC697CMM711 is a Single-Slot Communications Coprocessor Module (CMM) from the GE 90-30 series.

The module comes standard with soft switch configuration (eliminating the need for switches and/or jumpers), three status LEDs, pushbutton reset control, and two serial ports. The module uses a 12 Mhz, 80C186 microprocessor.

Additionally, no battery is needed.

The CMM is part of a family of communication modules and demonstrates both communications control (CCM), remote terminal (RTU), and general IC69 communications (SNP) functionality.

CCM, RTU and SNP are available on either or both serial ports in any of nine possible configurations: CCM/CCM, CCM/RTU, RTU/CCM, RTU/RTU, SNP/SNP, SNP/CCM, CCM/SNP, SNP/RTU, and RTU/SNP.

The module delivers both the RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces and communicates with the PLC CPU via the backplane.

Numerous CMMs can be placed in just one IC697 PLC system.

Functions allowed by the IC697CMM711 CMM in the CCM operation mode include read/write of register, input and output tables, bit set/clear of inputs and outputs, read of scratch pad, Q sequence commands for fast reads, and diagnostic status word modification.

In master/peer CCM configurations, the CMM initiates communications with remote devices through application ladder program communications requests.

The IC697CMM711 module’s status is viewable via three LEDs. Activity of the serial ports are identified in port 1 LED and port 2 LED.

The top LED will blink when the module is powered up, and once diagnostics are completed effectively, the top LED will remain lit. The top LED will always identify module state.
